Friendly, well priced, and clean and tidy inside
The Golden Lion is the white painted pub on Bedhampton Road with the lion on the sign. Inside is one long bar in soft blue, stools along the counter, cask barrels for tables, and old mirrored signs for real ale and brandy above the shelves.
The beer is well priced and well kept, with a modest range of beers and ales on the bar, and the staff get a mention in review after review: friendly, polite and quick. It is a tight squeeze when a band is on, which is exactly how the regulars like it.
There is a beer garden round the side for the warmer months, and the restaurant at the back has its own dining room.
